The dog days of summer?

Last week the heat and humidity were brutal! We worked in the shade as much as possible on Wednesday morning and spent the evening session pruning and watering.

Even though the hot spell seems to have ended for the time being, we decided it was time for a mid-summer break and two cars full of us took the day today to head to The Artful Garden near Bracebridge.

It is an amazing show of art for and inspired by gardens by over 40 Muskoka artists in an amazing setting ... the garden and studios of Suzanne and Jon Partridge. The art is amazing ranging from decorative garden stakes, to huge (pricey) sculptures and whimsical characters.  We thought this guy would be a great addition to our Garden.

The show continues until August 11th and is well worth the trip.

The cooler weather was refreshing and the garden itself was inspiring ...

So we had plenty of energy after lunch to "check out" every nursery between Bracebridge and Parry Sound on the way home and make a few acquisitions for our own gardens!
