Season Kick Off

At long last, spring has arrived in the Garden.  The grass is green, the daffodils are up (but not blooming yet) and the leaf buds are swelling on the trees and shrubs.

Saturday afternoon turned out to be the perfect time for us to get started in the Garden and to embark on our Cabin restoration project. We fished leaves out of the pond and worked our way outwards raking and cleaning out the beds.

We opened up the Cabin and started removing the debris and moldy old interior finishes.  There were some old blacksmith shop  "fixtures" stored in there (including a sack of coal) which were removed and taken back to the Museum. It turns out it's not enough to have loyal volunteers ... you need some strong ones too!
