Weeding our way around the Tower

We have been working at the base of the Tower for a couple of workdays now.  Now that we have the beds cleared and conifers pruned we have been attacking the pathway and the narrow beds circling it.

The Town staff have dragged off our mountain of debris to be composted which we expect will be returned in a couple of years to improve the soil in the beds.

Our Thursday evening group (yes, we now have choices to accommodate your busy summer schedules) has started a new pile.  By the time we called it quits on Thursday evening, this section that Joyce and Karen are working on in this photo:

Looked like this!  Who'd have thought "neat and tidy" would be words we use to describe part of the garden after such a short time working at it?
