Chivalry in the Garden ... the Irises of early Summer.
The iris flower is known to be a symbol if chivalry (as well as other honourable characteristics) and the familiar French "Fleur de lys" is in fact an iris, not a lily. We have many irises flourishing in the Garden and they are all in full bloom this week.
Bright yellow bearded irises blooming by a stone wall and not so bright yellow around the sundial (appropriate for a not so sunny week!)
The rock garden by the Ranger Cabin has a nice mix of white and purple,
and look at what is blooming in the rock garden at the base of the Tower!
The Siberian Irises are dark blue,
and in the pond we have both yellow and blue flag irises.
